Juliettes

Why be a Juliette?

Girls choose to join as Juliettes for a variety of reasons. Some of those reasons include:

  • Designing your own path to leadership: choosing the goals, Journeys, or activities that interest you.
  • Enjoying Girl Scouting at your own pace, spending as much time on activities as needed.
  • Participating in Girl Scouting even if your busy schedule doesn’t allow time for regular troop meetings.
  • Participating in Girl Scouting even if there is not a troop in your area.

What will I do as a Juliette?

As a Girl Scout Juliette you can enjoy the full spectrum of the Girl Scout experience, including:

  • Going to camp.
  • Participating in the Cookie Program.
  • Attending Girl Scout activities and events.
  • Earning recognitions by working from the Journey books and handbooks.
  • Earning leadership awards.
  • Participating in leadership opportunities.
  • Connecting with Girl Scouts online.
  • Receiving a quarterly newsletter for Juliettes.
  • Wearing a Girl Scout uniform (if desired).
  • Receiving the council newsletter and catalogs.
  • Performing community service.
  • Travel.

For more information, check out the Girl Scout Pathways page.

Who can be a Juliette?

Girl Scouts of all grade levels can be Juliettes—Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors. Every girl is welcome who accepts the Girl Scout Promise and Law and registers as a Girl Scout. Click here to request information on becoming a Girl Scout Juliette.

Where does the name “Juliette” come from?

As a Juliette, you have the honor of being named after Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts of the USA.

Who will help me as a Juliette?

Juliettes work with a parent or caring adult. Adults are encouraged to register and are then welcome (but not required) to attend our free adult education courses. Our council also has a Girl Scout Juliette Coordinator who is happy to answer questions and help you make the most of your Girl Scout experience. You can reach Mindy Harmon at (801) 265-8472 or (800) 678-7809, ext. 67, or via email at mharmon@gsutah.org.

How much does it cost?

Membership in Girl Scouts of the USA is just $12 a year. Financial assistance is available. Additional costs are determined by the activities in which you choose to participate. Fees for programs and camps vary and are usually paid to the council at the time you register for each event. If you choose to sell cookies, you will receive activity credits (or "cookie credits") that can be used to pay for programs, camps, uniforms, books, badges, and more.
