Benefits of the Cookie Program

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is more than just a fundraiser. It is a leadership program that gives girls in grades K through 12 the skills to become strong leaders. The Girl Scouts of Utah Cookie Program provides funding to troops within our council and builds amazing qualities in today's youth. The Cookie Program experience helps make Girl Scouting the premier leadership development experience for girls.

Leadership

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is one of the few youth-oriented programs in the country that provides its participants the ability to decide how to direct the proceeds generated through their business activity. Because girls are invested in the program, they work to accomplish both team and personal goals.

Teamwork

Girls learn the value of working with one another during the Cookie Program. Many troops set goals such as taking a trip or participating in a special activity.

Planning

Girls learn to plan ahead in several areas (number of intended buyers, selling strategy, any marketing-related materials, etc.) to ensure a successful experience.

Goal Setting

Girls are encouraged to set both personal goals and troop goals (if applicable) and to work toward those goals, learning valuable lessons throughout their journeys. As girls meet their personal cookie goals, they also earn activity credits and incentives.

Entrepreneurship

Girls learn a variety of business skills in order to make their selling experience a success.

Money Management

From making change to tracking proceeds, girls practice the basics of money management and learn how to achieve their financial goals and stay on budget.

Public Speaking

Girls develop confidence as they speak with members of their communities about cookies and personal and group goals.
