Adult Training FAQ
Who teaches Girl Scout courses and workshops?
Girl Scout courses and workshops are taught by staff and experienced volunteer learning facilitators.
Is there a cost for courses and workshops?
Some courses are free, while others have a fee. Please check the GSU web site for more information about current courses.
Do I need to register for all courses/workshops?
Yes! Registration is required prior to the registration deadline so learning facilitators will have time to prepare. Register earlier, if possible, as some courses/workshops fill quickly. Times and locations of classes sometimes need to be adjusted to meet the needs of participants. Your learning facilitator cannot give you this information unless you are registered.
Do courses/workshops ever fill up?
Yes, courses and workshops do sometimes fill up. Be sure to register early.
What if I can't attend a course after I have registered?

What should I bring to a course/workshop?
Bring your copies of Safety-Wise and the Volunteer Resource Guide, as well as any pertinent grade-level manuals (for Module 4 courses). You may also want to bring a sweater or wear layers, as classroom temperatures vary.
Why is training necessary for a volunteer position?
Training is necessary to keep volunteers up-to-date on GSU and GSUSA policies, procedures, and safety requirements. Training also helps volunteers expand their resources, ideas, and Girl Scout contacts.
When does Girl Scouts of Utah cancel a course/workshop?
Courses will be cancelled if they are not filled to the minimum requirement of participants or if a conflict of schedule makes it necessary to cancel a course.
Who is notified if a course/workshop is cancelled?

When I registered for my training, I checked the "Email Notices" box, but have not received an email confirmation. What's wrong?
Make sure that you provide the correct email address at registration. Your email spam filter or firewall may also be turned on, which prevents email notices from reaching your inbox. Contact your Internet Service Provider with any questions about email filters.
