Volunteer Recognition

See the 2010 awardees here (PDF).

We love our volunteers! Every day, volunteers deliver on Juliette Gordon Low's vision by renewing their commitment to give every girl everywhere the opportunity to be a Girl Scout. Without our volunteers, there would be no Girl Scouting.

Girl Scouts of Utah recognizes the time and dedication our volunteers give. Every year, we strive to honor volunteers whose efforts sincerely focus on providing the Girl Scout experience, exceed expectations, and make significant contributions to the community.

The recognition system applies at every level and area of the council's structure and jurisdiction. Facilitators, parents, friends, Service Unit team members, staff, board members, and partners of Girl Scouting may be recognized for their support.

Nomination Process

  • Select the outstanding individuals in your Service Unit who deserve to be recognized with GSU or GSUSA awards.
  • Find the right award to fit the service given:
    • What position does the volunteer now hold?
    • How long has the person served as a volunteer?
    • What awards has the volunteer already received?
    • What other community service has this person given?
    • What makes this person's service outstanding?
    • How does this volunteer's service go above and beyond the requirements for her/his position?
  • Complete the appropriate Girl Scouts of Utah award nomination form and collect letters of recommendation. Important reminder when submitting letters: Please note that many awards require one or more letters of recommendation. If you are submitting a nomination, it is your responsibility to ensure those required letters are also submitted. If the required endorsements are not received, the candidate will not be eligible for the award. Letters of endorsement/recommendation can be submitted either by email (awards@gsutah.org), by mail, or by completing a "Letter of Endorsement" form.
  • Submit nomination form(s) online or by mail.
  • Nominations must be received by February 3, 2010. If you submit nominations by mail, please send all materials in one package. Mail to Girl Scouts of Utah, Awards and Recognitions Task Group, PO Box 57280, Salt Lake City, UT 84157-0280.

What happens next?

The Awards and Recognitions Task Group is a volunteer-based committee. If the nominator does not hear from the task group concerning the awards, the award was approved as nominated.
