Excellent - Tuesday

August 20th, 2009

Today we woke up early to watch Swirl do the polar bear dip.  It was fun to watch everyone jump in the cold lake.  Then we took the swim test and it was freezing!  Then we canoed and that was also fun, but all of us decided not to do the tip test.  Then we got to paddle boat.  Then we did rock climbing and it was lots of fun, we did bouldering.  After we got ready to hike up to Stump Lake for the overnighter.  The hike was somewhat hard.  Then there was a moose so we had to stay in our tents all night.

Star Shine - Day 1

August 19th, 2009

We first arrived from our houses and made a collage of looking and being our best.  We went over rules and guidelines and planned our overnight hike for Tuesday.  After that we went to lunch and had tacos and salad.  Later we had waterfront and went canoeing, swimming, and in paddle boats.  We went to the trading post and made a service blanket to help the needy.  After we had a delicious dinner of hamburgers and tater tots.  Finally we went to the opening campfire and sang songs and watched skits.  Then was closing circle and lights out.  Ready for another big day!

August 13th - BAM!

August 18th, 2009

Today all of BAM hiked Mount Majestic.  For many of us it was a hard hike.  We climbed over boulders, walked next to a stream, and had a snack in between.  You could see everything from the top of Mount Majestic!!

After we came back, we made pots on the spinning wheels.  We painted scenes of nature, too.  It rained so we couldn’t do flag ceremony but we had a fun night in the unit, reading and writing stories.

August 12th - BAM!

August 18th, 2009

Today was our first time showering.  Afterwards everything felt fresh, especially after our backpacking trip!  We finally got to have fun in the lake.  Most people passed the swimming test so we could kayak.  Other people canoed instead.  Everyone got to choose what to do for a bit.  Most of us went canoeing.

We had a Newsies theme for All-camp.  Our counselors danced for us to a song from Newsies.  We did Newsies relays, made newspaper, and painted nails.  Then we went to bed after a great day.

August 11th - BAM!

August 18th, 2009

This morning we couldn’t go in the lake because a moose decided to go swimming near the boating dock, so we missed water fun.  But the good news was that it was Lightning Bug’s birthday so we all go to make s’mores.  All of BAM backpacked to a lake for the night.  We cooked our dinner, made skits, and pitched our own tents.

August 12th, 2009

Today was awesome! We had flag and breakfast, but then we got to go on a bike ride! First we got fitted to bikes and helmets. That took a little while, but then we went riding through camp up to the meadow. We stopped and worked on nature journals and our weather badge. Then we rode back to the Lodge to put the bikes away. After that it was lunch time, the low ropes. We worked together on the low ropes to get through the obstacle course. After that we went to the Trading Post for a while. Then it was time to get our cookout ready. We made the food ourselves in dutch ovens on the fire. It was yummy! After all that we made candy! Fun!!!

Seekers -Tuesday 8-11

August 12th, 2009

This morning we got up and made to flag just in time to go through the quiet bridge. We quietly waited while the youngest kids put the flag up. Then we were dismissed to breakfast!!! It was pancakes, so yummy! Then we did kapers. We made it fun. After that we did some badge work. We passed off some outdoor skills and learned a lot of important things to know. Then it was Me Time, so we took a little rest in our campsite and did what we wanted to do. Then we had lunch. Nachos or Quesadillas…? I’ll take both! After that we had more low ropes. We did more ground elements, but we also did the spiderweb. It was hard the first few times, but we eventually worked together and made everyone successful. After we finished the spiderweb and we talked about our experiences, we went to the cookout. We made the food ourselves on the fire. Then we were ambushed by Harper in the middle of our cookout and she presented a rolled up piece of paper. She said it was Rolled-Up Fun and she wanted us to come to Camper Choir. We decided we would all go and make the counselors stay and watch the fire. Ha! Ha! We went and got more kids to join us in the choir. Then we had try-outs for solo parts. We are singing a bunch of songs. It’s going to be great! Then it was time to go back and make sure our counselors were taking care of the food. They were, because it was almost time to eat!!! We ate dinner and cleaned up and we had a great day!

Magic Makers -Tuesday 8-11

August 12th, 2009

We had to get up early because we were in charge of flag ceremony today. We all got to be a part of it. Some of us were in the Color Guard and some were the announcers. The counselors helped us put the flag on the rope and pul it up to the top of the pole. Then we did the Pledge. After flag was opening circle and breakfast. We ate pancakes or cereal. Then we went to the Trading Post to buy stuff from camp. One of the things that was the most fun was building a fort, which we did after Trading Post. We worked together to put it up and we lived in it for a few minutes. We loved it. We even said our grace in there before we went to eat lunch. After lunch was our magic show. We got a whole audience and performed for them. We did magic tricks we learned from our counselors. Then later we played some shadow games. Dinner was followed by another show! We used our talents to put on a variety show! It was cool. Then it was Mystery Time, and we had fun playing with rockets and making gloopy mess using Scientific Magic. The End.

We made our own food and it was really fun working together and playing around. Then we all sang a grace and ate! After that we went to the Tradin’ Post for a while. Back at camp we got ready to bed, which is how I have time to write this. But now it’s time to go to sleep, so good night.

We had to work as a team to accomplish our low ropes goals. Then we had Me Time. It was a nice break when we could chill out and talk to each other and write letters and play games. After Me Time it was lunch time. Then we worked on our music videos for a while. We are planning them ourselves. Then it was riding time, so we hiked up the trail to the stables and went to ground school. We learned about trotting and practiced it in the arena. We also had a ground lesson about grooming and saddling horses. After all that, we went back to our campsite to get ready for the cookout! We prepared our own food over the fire, then got to eat it. It was a lot of fun, and really good. Once cookout was cleaned up it was time for music class. We learned how to play the guitar. We practiced a couple of chords and now we can play a song! Well, that’s all. Good night!

It’s Monday, so we were so excited to get to camp! We got to Trefoil finally and met our group. We are all really excited to go on the bike trip, but it’s not for a few days, so we are planning it. We are learning all about bike safety and stuff. We had lunch then we learned about compasses. We went outside and used the compasses. It was easy once our counselor showed us how. After that we did yoga for a while. Then we had Choice. It’s fun because we can choose what we want to do. After dinner we had campfire and it was so funny! The best was when our counselor S’mores did a gymnastics floor routine. She won a medal!!! But it was just to be funny. She and Buttercup also put on a skit. Then we went back to our campsite to get ready for bed.

Seekers -Monday 8-10

August 11th, 2009

Today we arrived here at Trefoil Ranch for day 1 of camp! Right away we played some games and learned about the rules of camp, then we went to our unit to put stuff away. We went to lunch after that and ate the delcious food prepared by our great kitchen people! Then we did kapers, which is fine because we were all working together. After that we went to the low ropes course and did ground elements. We had to turn a handkerchief over without touching the ground. We also had to cross the parking lot without touching the ground. We had dots to step on, but only enough for everyone to have one, and one extra. We worked on it for a long time and finally made it! Then there was Choice. We like playing with lumi sticks and water games. Then we had dinner, and most of us thought it was great! Then tonight we had Olympics for campfire, and we watched our counselors compete for gold, silver, and bronze. The swimming was funny, because there was no water. Now we are going to bed.
