Outreach Opportunities

What is an Outreach Troop?

Girl Scouts of Utah want to make sure that every girl who wants to be a Girl Scout has the chance to do so. Our Outreach program helps make that dream possible. We provide a Girl Scout experience to girls in after school programs, community and refugee centers, homeless and domestic violence shelters, as well as in community resource centers serving special populations.
In 2013, the Girl Scout Outreach Program served over 1100 girls and adults in 50 sites throughout the state of Utah, making up approximately 12% of our overall membership.
Under the training and guidance of council staff and fantastic volunteers, girls can participate through badge and patch work, Journeys, and service to their community. They experience Girl Scout programming by Discovering Girl Scouts through ceremonies, rituals, the Promise and Law. Next, they move through Connecting by completing a financial literacy unit. Finally, they give back to their community by completing a service learning project. In addition, girls can participate in all other Girl Scout programming and camps throughout the state of Utah.

How can I help?

Volunteers are needed at many of our sites to help run the Outreach troops and be a consistent, Girl Scout knowledegable, confident, courageous adult. Contact Shari Solomon-Klebba at sklebba@gsutah.org if you are interested in volunteering for our Outreach Program.
