Update regarding G.I.R.L. 2020 and the 55th National Council Session

For 108 years, Girl Scouts of the USA has provided a framework from which girls have realized their biggest dreams—aligning their innovation, collaboration, and service can align for the betterment of our communities and the world.  During this time, girls, adults, volunteers and families have mobilized to make great things happen always keeping safety and care as top of mind.

Given all of this, the National Board held a special meeting on Tuesday, April 21, and voted to hold a one-time virtual session for our 55th National Council Session in October 2020. The board also voted to cancel G.I.R.L. 2020, including the Global Roundtable.

This decision was made with the health and safety of all members of the Girl Scout Movement at the forefront.  As we’ve continued to monitor public health experts’ recommendations and forecasts, it became clear that Girl Scouts could not hold convention in person in October 2020 because we can’t host a large scale, in-person event and guarantee the health and safety of participants.

By making the decision now, we can maximize planning time to deliver an engaging virtual version of our 55th NCS. We understand that our councils, delegates, and those planning to attend NCS and G.I.R.L. 2020 also need time to work through these changes.

If you have questions or concerns, please refer to the FAQ or reach out to the Customer Care team via email.

Opportunities for Girls
G.I.R.L. 2020 Council Trip

We will be joining hundreds of other Girl Scouts from all over the country and Girl Guides from all over the world!  Participants will go to the Hall of Experiences, breakout sessions, luncheons, a day at the theme parks, and other events just for girls!  The trip is $1300 per girl with the option of having ¼ of your trip paid for by the council, with no other activity scholarship available. The fee includes meals, airfare, hotel, ground transportation, Disney park ticket, and convention passes.

This trip will launch our own council “G-Team” (girl planning team).  After seeing the national G-Team in action, you will return home inspired to help plan council events, be emissaries for Girl Scouts in the media, and be an integral part of our council programming.  Girls selected for this trip will be expected to participate in on the council G-Team for 18 months after the convention.
