Gain valuable experience in marketing and communications and explore your creativity (social media, marketing, journalism, communications, or video) as a member of our News Crew!

News Crew is open to Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors (Grades 6-12). Learn what it takes to be a marketing professional, journalist, or social media influencer—and share your love of Girl Scouts while doing it!

Throughout the year, News Crew members can attend workshops, each focused on one aspect of marketing and communications. Plus, you'll have plenty of opportunities to dive in, practice what you've learned, and try something new.

As part of the News Crew, you might:

Shoot photos and videos for a social media reel

Write a blog post about something you learned in Girl Scouting

Interview fellow Girl Scouts about their experience

Craft social media post

Represent GSU in interviews for print and digital media outlets

Girl Advisory Board (GAB) toggle arrow

The Girl Advisory Board (GAB) is comprised of Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors in grades 6-12 from service units across the council to act as representatives of our members.

As a member of the Girl Advisory Board (GAB), you’ll help shape the future of Girl Scouting in Utah, lend your voice to big decisions, and work with other inspiring girls to make real impact. It’s leadership with purpose—and a whole lot of fun.

How to Join GAB

Join by registering for a GAB virtual meeting. Our first meeting is October 6. We’ll break down what GAB is all about, introduce a few fun projects, and more!

GAB Officer Applications

GAB is looking for passionate, creative, and change-making girls to apply for officer positions—President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Historian. Any GAB Girl Scout is encouraged to apply! Selected applicants will decide together how to assign officer roles.

To apply, submit the following to info@gsutah.org by October 8:

A letter sharing why you want to join GAB and what makes you a strong candidate
Two recommendation letters (one can be from a caregiver; the other should be from someone who can speak to your leadership skills and character)

Leadership Awards are a fresh new way for Girl Scouts to lead with confidence, mentor others, work as a team, and take action in their communities. They're also a prerequisite for the Highest Awards.

These awards are about building real skills for real impact and having the confidence to turn your ideas into action. Whether you’re working with a team, leading a group, or stepping up to a challenge, these awards are designed to help you explore what leadership means to you—no pressure, just room to grow:
