Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors can gain valuable experience in media
(social media, marketing, journalism, communications, or video) as a member of our News Crew!
Learn what it takes to be a marketing professional, journalist, or social media influencer! News Crew members will write copy, take photos, and shoot video for GSU’s various media outlets, including social media. You’ll also participate in interviews for print and digital media outlets like TV, radio, or newspapers.
GSU News Crew Applicant Criteria
- An interest or talent related to
- Social media management and content creation
- Marketing
- Public relations
- Journalism (newspaper and broadcast)
- Writing
- Video editing, directing, or producing
- Ability to complete a two-hour training session
- A complete Girl Scout uniform (vest or sash, white blouse, and khaki pants)
- Signed up for the Cookie Program
- Previous Girl Scout Cookie Program experience
- Availability for interviews during the school year, especially January-March, which are often requested at the last minute
- Caregiver permission and signed media release
How to apply
To join the GSU News Crew, send your information to marketing@gsutah.org. Please include:
- Name
- Troop # or Juliette
- City
- Grade
- A current photo, preferably in your Girl Scout uniform
- A one- to two-minute video about yourself and your interest in joining the News Crew (Videos are for internal use only and will not be shared externally.)
- The media elements you are interested in; include all that apply:
- TV, radio, or digital media interviews
- Creating content for social or web.
- Taking photos
- Producing/directing, assisting with planning for interviews and segments.
