Financial Assistance

Financial assistance is available through Girl Scouts of Utah so that Girl Scouting can be accessible to all girls. Financial assistance is made possible through the generosity of our donors.

Girls are encouraged to participate in the Cookie Program, where they can earn Activity Credits to help pay for their Girl Scout expenses. If your Girl Scout has earned Activity Credits, we ask that you apply those credits to her Girl Scout expenses prior to requesting additional assistance.

Purpose

To provide financial assistance for girls who (a) wish to become members of Girl Scouts of Utah, (b) want to purchase a uniform, (c) want to attend Girl Scouts of Utah-sponsored events, programs, or camps, and/or (d) are accepted to participate in a Girl Scout Destinations program.

To provide financial assistance for a Girl Scouts of Utah membership for adults who want to volunteer as a first-year troop leader with Girl Scouts.

Philosophy

Financial assistance and activity scholarships should fill a specific financial need. It is not a reward for being a "good Girl Scout" nor is it a way to repay volunteer work a parent might have done in Girl Scouting. It is a way for Girl Scouts of Utah to help a Girl Scout participate in an experience in which they would otherwise not be able to because of financial restraints. The decision to grant financial assistance or an activity scholarship, and the amount, is made based on information given on the application form. All information is kept confidential and discussed only by those responsible for allocating the money.

Char Corbit Campership Fund

Activity scholarships for camp programs are funded through the Char Corbit Campership Fund. Char was on staff at Girl Scouts of Utah for 33 years and began her journey as a Girl Scout when she was given the gift of a campership to attend Trefoil Ranch. That gift changed Char's life and she went on to change the lives of thousands of girls and women.
