FAQs

How can I qualify for the promotion?
As a volunteer, you can invite a friend to start a new troop by submitting the Invite-a-Friend form between October 26 - December 22, 2020. You must be at least 18 years old, a registered adult member with Girl Scouts of Utah for the 2020-2021 membership year (or be a lifetime member), and have a current background check on file.

How many friends can I invite?
You can invite as many friends as you would like to start two separate NEW troops and qualify for the incentives.

What does my friend need to do to qualify?
Your friend will need to start a new troop by officially purchasing a membership and be an approved volunteer troop leader or co-leader by submitting an online volunteer background check no later than DEADLINE

What if the new troop has two leaders—will each leader receive a gift certificate?
No, only one gift certificate will be issued per new troop to the leader that officially starts the new troop.

What if my friend is already a Girl Scout leader?
Your friend will qualify by starting a NEW troop (with new girl members) between October 26 - December 22, 2020, even if she or he is already a current volunteer and leader of another troop.

Can the new troop be any level or grade?
Yes, new troops of any level qualify if they meet the criteria of a new troop: one or more leaders with adequate number of adult volunteers and girls to meet safety ratios.

How can the gift certificate be used?
The new troop may use the gift certificate for any qualifying in-store purchase at GSU’s retail shops. We suggest using the gift certificate to purchase an insignia tab and pins for all of the troop leaders and a “Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting” book for the troop, plus a Journey book or badges/patches for the girls, if funds allow.
