We’re excited to have three different state parks throughout Utah partnering with us this year to offer programing for our annual event, Girl Scouts Love State Parks! This event is all about getting our Girl Scouts and their families outdoors to enjoy all the amazing natural surroundings that our state has to offer. Each park’s activities and schedules will be different, so check out which option will work best for you. Participants at all options will receive a patch as part of registration. Spaces are limited, so sign up early!

Program Description: Journey back in time and imagine what the world looked like when dinosaurs roamed the earth at the Utah Field House of Natural History Museum State Park! Take on the role of a paleontologist as you reconstruct the life of a prehistoric creature. Create a model of a sauropod neck to experiment with how they moved, calculate the measurements of your wingspan if you were a dinosaur, and examine fossils to create a drawing of what the creature might have looked like when it was alive. You won’t want to miss this prehistoric party! To join in the fun, we’re offering two ways to participate. You can sign up to join the program with your troop or your family and can turn the rest of the journey into your own adventure, or you can meet up with other Girl Scouts at the council office in Murray and we’ll provide transportation to and from the State Park. Read more about each option below.

Option 1: Register for the Program Only

Who Can Attend: This option is for Junior Girl Scouts and older (entering 4th grade in the fall) and their families. Girls can register as a girl/adult pair, a troop, or with their family. Non-members and family members are welcome to attend, but must be 4th grade or older and must register for the program. This is not a girl-only registration option – all youth must attend with an adult. All gender siblings wanting to attend needs to register as "girl non-member."

Registration Cost: $18 for members and $22 for non-members

Included in Registration: Girl Scouts Love State Parks patch, entry to the park, program supplies, awesome dinosaur & geological crafts and activities

Not Included: Lunch/Snacks, transportation

Program Times: 1-3 PM

Please plan to arrive at the museum in time to check in and begin program activities by 1 PM. You can choose to explore the museum further on your own time before or after the program.

If any Girl Scout Troops are looking to turn this opportunity into an overnight trip, the troop leader would need to get trip approval by turning in the appropriate paperwork. Arrangements for booking a campsite or other lodging are not part of registration and are not handled by Girl Scouts of Utah.

Option 2: Register for the Program and Transportation through Girl Scouts of Utah (Girls Only)

If you want a chance to experience this program, but don’t live close to Vernal – don’t worry! Girl Scouts of Utah is taking a van full of 10 Girl Scouts out to play on the eastern side of the state and learn about how Utah looked in the prehistoric days.
